Diversity Club is off to a great start this year! Presently we have over 20 members. We have organized theme-based meetings throughout the year in which student members facilitate information sessions about their various cultures. Our first theme meeting was a great introduction to the Philipines. Music, history, politics and fun facts were accompanied by cultural song and dance as well as a feast of Filipino dishes.

We are currently preparing for the Diversity Conference which will take place on November 16 and 17, 2009. Students will be inspired by various speakers and participate in events that promote respect for differences in background and culture.

We are also looking forward to our annual Christmas bake-sale which raises funds for the Catholic Children’s Aid Society. These funds are used to provide Christmas hampers to local teens in need.

We look forward to 2010 activities which will include a celebration of Black History Month and our annual talent show in May.
