Mr. Curtis, Department Head
As
we begin another year we find that the winds of change have descended
upon Saint Thomas More. The religion department welcomes Ms. Venneri,
Ms. DiCecca, Mrs. Baldin, & Ms. Alaimo and looks forward to the many
contributions they will make to the development of our students. We also
say goodbye to Mr. Moretuzzo who joins our business department and welcome
Mr. Fuciarelli who, we are confident will follow admirably in Mr. Moretuzzo'
s footsteps. We congratulate Amanda Davies, a recent recipient of a McMaster
Social Science Award.

We
continue to develop and implement new courses to assist our diversified
student population. This semester Mr. Burke is teaching HRE 20E our ESL
Grade 10 religion. Under
the leadership of Mr. Morelli & Mrs Gambioli H4H ran another successful
event carrying out our mandate to be of service to others. Ms. Gabriel &
Mrs Russell are busy preparing for what will be another very meaningful
Remembrance day . |
| In
November we will be welcoming our Diocesan Vocational Director, Father
Kevin Cull, to our school. Father Cull will be doing a ‘teaching
mass’ in our school chapel with four religion classes. We look forward
to having Father Cull celebrate and explain mass with us and for our students
to gain a deeper understanding of our Eucharist celebration.

In
December we will welcome Encounter World Religions Centre to our school.
This group will be presenting religious symbols to our grade eleven classes.
We look forward to this learning opportunity as it will provide our students
a chance to see and touch symbols that are connected with the world religions
which they have been studying. |
| Finally, we welcome this semester student teachers
Amanda Young- a former stm graduate and Elena Mazzarolo. We hope their stay
will be meaningful and rewarding. In closing, Thanks to all who volunteer
on a daily basis to assist us in our vocation. |
God Bless.
